“Finally, time to buy asparagus again!” – we hear it every season

For all of us, it’s a special time when asparagus cutting season begins again. And your anticipation is what makes us happiest! We put all our passion into our asparagus. And not just our passion, but all our know-how too. Thanks to advanced film-covering techniques, we can offer it every year from as early as April. And by the way: the films are reused for ten years and then recycled.

Asparagus harvest – cut by hand for you

Even before the asparagus spears break through the soil, each one has to be carefully cut by hand by one of our harvest workers. Because asparagus can grow up to 7 cm on warm days, it sometimes has to be cut twice a day so that it stays fresh and tender. It’s not for nothing that asparagus is known as the king of vegetables … Interested in the whole production process, illustrated with pictures? No problem! Of course, we’ve spared no cost or effort and documented the entire journey of our asparagus for you.

Free peeling service at the farm shop & stand

Peel asparagus? No need: at all our sales locations, you can buy peeled asparagus or use our peeling service, which saves you the work at home – free of charge! We even offer peeled broken asparagus, which is particularly good value and perfect for adding to soup. We also have regular special offers. Feel free to get in touch to find out which asparagus is available at which stand.

For a classic asparagus meal, we recommend sticking to the tried-and-tested rule: “a pound per person”. With that in mind: enjoy your meal!

Quality

Our asparagus quality promise to you

Believe it or not: every single asparagus spear is photographed three times before it leaves our farm. This is how we meet our own standard of grading as precisely as possible. Our asparagus grading machine uses a high-speed camera to measure thickness, curvature and colour. We offer 17 grades of white asparagus and three grades of green asparagus. Depending on availability, there may be more or fewer grades, of course. If you have any questions about asparagus, feel free to ask us at any time.

Our top tip for storing, buying and preparing:
Asparagus shouldn’t be left unprepared for too long. It tastes best when, like ours, it comes freshly cut from the field. So it’s best to prepare and enjoy it quickly and to keep it in the fridge for no more than 1–2 days (wrapped in a damp tea towel). Bon appétit!
