Hi!

From asparagus farm to the place for fresh fruit and vegetables

Hi, we’re Judith and Christoph! The faces behind WERNER – together with our team. Maybe you still know us as “Spargelhof Werner”? At the end of 2023, we simplified our name to the essentials – and focused on a wide range of fruit and vegetables for you.

WERNER stands for mindful, seasonal, regional and field-fresh enjoyment. From strawberries to pumpkins to asparagus. Our fruit and vegetables come fresh from the ground, straight into your shopping basket.

Taking a stand

Our VALUES

We grow crops from the region, for the region. For our environment, for people, animals and plants, we need to rethink farming. Yes, it’s possible. And no, we don’t see any alternative. We’re actively taking new, meaningful paths and taking a clear stand. Straightforward and with field-fresh quality.

WERNER is a mindset. It’s what guides us. Out of conviction. For you. With values that give us roots. Identity and motivation for our employees, customers and partners.

Did you know? Here you can see where our farm began. In full colour.

We bring the origins of our farm into our design through the geometric element placed behind the image. It’s one of our key elements and appears again and again.

We grew from these origins, became big and yet stayed down-to-earth. That’s what this element is meant to embody. Firmly anchored in our new brand identity. So that we know where we come from and where we want to stay. Neon green? Of course. Distinctive. Modern and based on the idea of showing our true colours. Across all areas.

WERNER stands for:

  • continuity, as a second-generation family business

  • mindful regional and seasonal farming

  • renewable energy and innovation

  • culture and crops for grounding, variety and education

  • a personal sense of togetherness – the WERNER feeling, for us and for you

History

A look at the chapters of our decades-long farm history

THEN:

  • Hans-Jürgen and Ulrike Werner founded the family business on our farm in Deinste in 1984.
  • In 1984, we planted our first asparagus field. In the early days, the asparagus was sold exclusively through our shop on the farm. In 1996 came the first strawberries, followed four years later by blueberries.
  • We’ve been growing raspberries since 2008, and since 2012 we’ve had cherry trees, whose first harvest we were able to taste in summer 2014. Blackberries followed in 2019; since 2022 we’ve been growing pumpkins.
  • “From the region, for the region” and “A touch fresher” have been our guiding principles from the very beginning, and every day we strive to live up to our high standards of quality and freshness.

NOW:

  • Today, we offer our high-quality products across the entire Elbe-Weser Triangle in our seven farm shops and at other sales stands – some of them our strawberry-shaped sales stands.
  • Christoph and Judith Werner – married since 2015 – have been running the family business in the second generation since 2023. Before that, they spent 12 years working with Christoph’s father, Hans-Jürgen Werner, on developing the business and preparing the handover. Christoph and Judith have two children, Oscar Ferdinand and Karl Rudolph, and live in Fredenbeck near Deinste.
  • While Christoph takes the lead on cultivation and wholesale marketing, Judith puts her energy into direct sales, HR and marketing.
  • Since 2024, we’re no longer called “Spargelhof Werner” but simply WERNER. Straightforward. Distinctive. Reduced to the essentials. We can do more than just asparagus, and from now on we want to show it. Our claim “A touch fresher” has become “Freshness all the way.” Because that’s exactly what we’ve been from the very beginning.

Sustainable

Renewable energy is our second mainstay alongside farming.

Windpark Helmste-Deinste e. V., in which we hold a stake, has been in operation since 2003. Out of conviction. With an output of 50,000,000 KW per year, it supplies around 12,500 households. In 2009, we fitted the first roof of one of our machinery halls with solar cells. Today, our solar power can supply around 175 households with an output of 700,000 KW per year.
